The flickering glow of torches lit the way on Saturday, January 21, as 40 cross-country skiers and more than 120 snowshoers gathered for an evening of winter fun at Mont-Bellevue.

Snowshoers were led by volunteer guides along the scenic Lake Echo trail, which provides a panoramic view of the municipality; while skiers circled the Basler trail through rolling hills and along the Simon River.

Volunteers from the Optimist Club greeted the returning skiers and snowshoers with hot-chocolate and cookies and after a few moments spent warming-up, most visitors sat by a flaming bonfire to listen to stories recounted by La Louve, a storyteller.
